Can you keep your bathroom sink looking clean despite the frequent use it gets? If having a tidy bathroom sink seems like a never ending battle, try these tips.

1. If you are responsible for the bulk of your home’s cleaning, aim to use the bathroom after everyone else has each morning and night. Then, hopefully, it will be some time before another mess occurs, and giving the sink a fast wipe down when you are through will do the trick.

2. Use care in purchasing a sink cleanser. A lot of people believe all sink cleaners are created equally. But they do not contain the same mix of ingredients. You need to choose a cleaner that is designed for the type of sink in your bathroom. For example, sinks can be made of enamel, metal, or porcelain, and each material requires a different cleaner. Read the label fully before you use any cleaner. Because you can damage your sink by using an incorrect product!

3. At least weekly, scrub the sink thoroughly with a good quality scrub pad.
Microfiber scrubbers are gaining in popularity because they are practical (can be repeatedly washed and reused), and they fight dirt and gunk well.

4. Tame the clutter by using containers or drawers to store toothbrushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, makeup, etc. Just having a clean surface around the sink can go a long way toward keeping the area neat. If your bathroom is tiny, you could get a small storage cabinet that either can be affixed to a wall or placed on the counter top.

5. Check the sinks faucet and water knobs, and tighten them if necessary. This is a simple step many people forget, and taking a little time to do this will save you the headaches of continually cleaning water stains caused by leaks.

Cleaning bathroom sinks are probably not anyone’s idea of a good time, but if you follow these tips, your sink will no longer be a problem!
